A vehicle has caught fire on the Kardhiq-Delvinë road, in a place called "Skërficë". As a result, the driver of the vehicle has suffered severe third-degree burns.

The incident occurred yesterday evening (October 21) when the "Volkswagen Touran" vehicle, driven by 37-year-old Maridon Dhuli, a resident of the village of Fterrë, Himara Municipality, caught fire while driving.

After the vehicle caught fire, passersby came to the driver's aid. Among them, a citizen from Saranda, Sokol Ahmetaj, who was traveling from Tirana, managed to extinguish the flames on the 37-year-old's body using his sweatshirt. He also notified the hospital and traffic services.

After receiving first aid at the Saranda emergency room, the 37-year-old was transported by ambulance to Tirana to receive more specialized medical treatment due to the severe burns he suffered.

The fire department had to intervene to extinguish the fire in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the police have launched investigations to clarify the circumstances and causes of the incident.
