European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, spoke about Albania's accession process to the European Union, as well as the protests and demands of citizens in the country.
Asked whether Albania will become a member of the European Union and about her stance regarding the protests in Albania, Kos replied:
"Yes, Albania will become a member of the European Union if the Government and Parliament fulfill their obligations, and if member states support this process.
Regarding protesters or protests in Albania, it is important that people have the opportunity to express their opinion.
Part of their demands is directly related to what we are doing within the membership process, specifically in Chapter 27, which deals with environmental legislation.
"This is just one example of how the European Union accession process can help achieve goals, including those of civil society representatives," Kos told A2.
