A serious incident recently occurred in Durrës, where a police officer was raped by two 18-year-olds, one of them the son of the former director of the Durrës Post Office, Elisabeta Mataj.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place in neighborhood no. 6 of Durrës, where A. Mataj, together with his peer, citizen DB, are suspected of punching 25-year-old officer D. Hallaci. At the time of the conflict, the officer was reportedly off duty.

The motives that led to the clash between the young people are still unknown. An official reaction from the State Police is expected to provide more details regarding the incident.

We recall that Elisabeta Mataj was placed under investigation after suspicions of embezzling funds that were intended for payment services at the postal branches of Shijak and Kruja. The case became public in July, when internal controls of the Albanian Post revealed discrepancies in the administration of the funds.

In August, Mataj was sentenced to prison. After about a month, on September 25, the Durrës court changed her security measure, placing her under house arrest, while the investigation into the disappearance of around 69 million lek continues.
