Journalist Lavdrim Lita spoke to him about the new US ambassador to Tirana, Eric Wendt. During his speech, he also emphasized that regarding appointments to important institutions in the country, partners and ambassadors should also be heard as they have more information, linking it to the case of the former director of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni.

Lita said that Ambassador Yuri Kim had warned her about him. As for the new ambassador, he said that Albanians who have worked with him describe him as a stubborn person who gets his comeuppance.

"Of course, we have greatly appreciated the presence of the American ambassador in Tirana because often we behave like a minor in democracy and we need tutoring and guidance for reforms or for our behavior in the international arena, and we often receive a blessing or permission from the embassy to do some big things or some things that we could do ourselves, but they always ask us to know if we are okay with this, even when the American embassy or the ambassador has said that some people are not suitable to be appointed to institutions."

The case of Vlora Hyseni was one where Ambassador Yuri Kim, despite her very interesting character, warned the President of the Republic, saying that the lady was unfit to take on the position of head of SHISH. Albanian institutions did so out of respect for the hearing, but decided according to the interests of Prime Minister Rama and then we saw the quarrel a few years later, almost two years later.

So it is good to listen to partners who often have more information than Albanian institutions about the profile of people in leadership, and we should allow time for the ambassador and others to get to know the institutions, get to know the interlocutors, and how they will be approached.

He is a person who achieves objectives. I have also spoken a little with Albanian officers who worked with him in Afghanistan. He was a general who was with the special forces, he was with the US Army in Afghanistan.

"There are many Albanians who have worked with him and one thing that almost everyone said, regardless of each other, was that he is stubborn and a person who achieves the things he set out to do," he told Euronews Albania.
