On December 5, Olsian Çela's mandate as prosecutor general ends, but the High Prosecutorial Council, which will list the three potential names to the Assembly, has violated every deadline provided for by law.

It turns out that the Council did not delegate the forms to the ILDKPI within five days of the closing date, on August 1, of the application deadline, but with a month and a half delay.

"We have exceeded every deadline," said Ledina Riza, a member of KLP.

It turns out that the Council has not yet begun the preliminary evaluation of the five candidates, which should have been completed within 45 days, i.e. by September 15.

This process has not yet begun and the Council has not yet compiled the list of names that meet the conditions for the competition and those that are excluded from the process.

Although the law tasks the High Inspector of Justice to initiate verifications as to why procedures are at a standstill, the ILD has not conducted any verifications.

During September, members engaged in clashes to exclude each other, which is actually a vote-swinging movement on behalf of the candidates each of them supports.

After a month-long debate on the position of Prosecutor General, at the last meeting, based on the request of one of the colleagues, Council member Zeqir Hoda was excluded from all evaluation procedures. This means a reduction in members from 11 to 10.

Meanwhile, the request to exclude two other members of the Council, Vate Staka and Sokol Stojani, from this process has not yet been reviewed.

The next Council meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, and it turns out that some of the meetings failed because a quorum was not formed. (TCH)
