Six people, including three children, were injured after a vehicle crashed into a group of pedestrians during a Halloween party in Brooklyn, New York. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 29, near a police station where a party for children and their families was being held.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Knickerbocker Avenue and Bleecker Street. The 83rd Police Department had organized the event, where children dressed in Halloween costumes and were receiving candy.

According to police, a black vehicle, driven by a 56-year-old man, went onto the sidewalk and struck pedestrians, before hitting an ambulance parked at the scene.

As a result, three children and three women suffered injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Authorities say all six people are in stable condition and their injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver was arrested, suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and, according to American media reports, faces charges of causing bodily harm by vehicle, endangering other persons, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Witnesses described scenes of panic as parents tried to get their children away from the scene. The loud crash was so loud that some bystanders initially thought they heard gunshots.

However, authorities have found no evidence that the driver intentionally tried to crash into the crowd. Investigations to fully elucidate the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
