After the passing of the famous Greek singer George Mazonakis, Albanian makeup artist Olti Shulla has recounted for the first time on the "Breaking" show with Fiori Dardhen on Top News, some of his memories from meeting the artist, whom he had made up during his concert in Albania in 2024.
Shulla said that the collaboration began after the concert organizers contacted him to take care of the singer's appearance. After the makeup was completed, Mazonakis asked the organizers to have Shulla stay by his side during the first performance.
According to the Albanian makeup artist, the singer was very careful about his appearance and had a unique style.
"I realized that he was capricious, without a doubt. Artists always seek to have the best possible stage appearance," Shulla confessed.
He indicated that Mazonakis really liked the work he did and even invited him to collaborate again in Greece.
"When I have other collaborations, why not, I'll invite you to be there behind me, to do my hair and my makeup," Shulla recalls the singer's words.
Another detail that has stuck in the makeup artist's memory is Mazonakis' religious beliefs. Shulla revealed that, shortly before going on stage, the singer asked to be alone for a few minutes and prayed before starting the concert.
"I understood because there was an icon and a cross on the table. It showed that he was very religious. He would pray before going to the concert," he said.
Shulla also emphasized the good relationship that Mazonakis had established with Albanians. According to journalist Artur Bibe, who was in direct contact from Athens, the singer had collaborated with several Albanian professionals and trusted them.
The news of the artist's death has caused numerous reactions even in Albania, where Mazonakis had held concerts and had a considerable number of fans.
