Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have explained why they choose to speak publicly about political issues, including their stance in support of Palestine.

The couple is at the Venice Film Festival, where they presented their new film "Bunker." During the press conference, Bardem stressed that everyone has the right to express their position on issues they consider important, regardless of their profession.

"It doesn't matter if you're an artist, an actor, a plumber or a taxi driver. You have the right to express your truth," the actor said.

Bardem also spoke about the responsibility he feels as a public figure.

"We must have a responsibility to the world we live in and not take it for granted."

Even Penelope Cruz said that it would be contradictory for her to remain silent while participating in a film that deals with the fear, insecurity, and moral dilemmas of today's society.

"It would be very contradictory to be here and say: 'I don't want to talk about this.' It's impossible," the actress declared.

In "Bunker," Cruz and Bardem play a couple married for 17 years whose relationship is put to the test after Bardem's character, an architect, agrees to build a bunker for a tech billionaire.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem are one of the most famous couples in Spanish cinema and have been married since 2010. The two actors, who have built successful international careers and have been awarded prestigious awards, including Oscars, have two children and usually keep their family life away from the media spotlight.
