A sad and completely unexpected piece of news shocked Greece the other day, but not only. Greek media quickly reported the sad news of the passing of George Mazonakis, one of the most beloved and well-known voices of Greek music.

At the age of 54, the artist who for years has stood on the pedestal of Greek music, passed away suddenly, his heart betrayed him, leaving behind great pain for his family, friends, colleagues and above all for the thousands of fans who grew up with his songs.

No one expected that an ordinary day would turn into the last day of his life. But as Greece is still reeling from the loss of the artist, the investigation has taken a different turn. Authorities are focusing their attention on the private stem cell clinic in Kolonaki, where Mazonakis was staying shortly before he suffered a cardiac arrest.

According to reports from the neighboring country, the singer had gone to the clinic after a scheduled appointment to undergo an anti-aging plasmapheresis treatment. The procedure was planned in advance and he had gone to the clinic for this very purpose.

While preparing for treatment, after a venous catheter was placed, Mazonakis, according to the testimony of the clinic staff, felt severe chest pain. Shortly afterwards, he suffered cardiac arrest.

Efforts to revive him began immediately at the clinic. Resuscitation continued after the arrival of emergency teams and then by doctors at the hospital where he was transported. But despite the efforts, the singer's heart could not be restarted.

And now the question weighing on the investigation is one and only: "what happened in those minutes?".

Authorities are investigating not only the circumstances of the cardiac arrest, but also the procedure Mazonakis went to the clinic to have. The focus is on how the treatment was carried out, the conditions in which it took place, and whether everything was in accordance with the relevant rules and protocols.

Police officers have gone to the clinic, and medical authorities are expected to be involved in the investigation. Two doctors associated with the clinic have been questioned as part of the investigation, with one of them reportedly stating that he had no responsibility for the incident and that the management of the treatments was carried out by his wife, also a doctor.

Plasmapheresis is a well-known medical procedure in which blood is passed through a device that separates the plasma from the other parts of the blood. Depending on the case, the plasma is removed and the other blood components are returned to the patient along with a replacement fluid. The procedure is used in certain medical cases and requires special equipment, constant monitoring, and trained personnel.

Precisely how this procedure was carried out in the case of George Mazonakis is one of the elements that is already being examined.

Meanwhile, after all these questions and investigations, the pain remains for an artist who left this world too soon, when he still had dozens of projects and hits to give to his fans.

George Mazonakis passed away at the age of 54, at a time when his name was still strongly associated with the Greek music scene. For decades, he had built a special relationship with the public.
