Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the drafting of a law equating corruption with national treason during the war period.

Zelensky said the law would be passed next week and provides for too heavy penalties for the corrupt.

Earlier this summer, Zelensky said a state investigation into centers across Ukraine exposed abuses by officials, ranging from illegal enrichment to transporting qualified men across the border despite a wartime ban on leaving the country.

Zelenskyy also said 112 criminal cases were opened against board officials suspected of taking bribes and engaging in corrupt practices.
