The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has asked his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for help regarding the situation in the north of Kosovo.
His press office informs that Vucic had a telephone conversation with Erdogan today and asked him to help Serbia stabilize peace in the region.
"Turkish President Erdogan asked about the current situation in Kosovo and Vucic informed him about the events that led to the escalation of violence. He also asked the Turkish head of state to use his country's reputation and influence to maintain peace and stability in the region," the Serbian president's press service said, revealing that he also invited the Turkish leader to visit Serbia.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Monday said it was concerned about the worsening of the situation in northern Kosovo and called on the parties to avoid steps that could lead to further escalation of tensions in the region.
