Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia supports the Serbian people in Kosovo and believes that their rights and legitimate interests must be protected, Reuters news agency reports.
"We unconditionally support Serbia and Serbs... We believe that all rights and legitimate interests of Kosovo Serbs should be respected," Peskov said in his daily address to the media, adding that there should be no room for "provocative actions ".
On Monday, Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that the situation in Kosovo "is alarming" and that it could provoke "another conflict in the center of Europe".
Russia, which launched the invasion of its neighbor, Ukraine, in February of last year, is an ally of Serbia and constantly supports its actions against Kosovo's citizenship.
