The visit of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti to the two municipalities with an Albanian majority, Tetovo and Çair, has stirred politics in North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.
The heads of the Macedonian state have demanded an investigation and punishment for the organizers of Kurti's reception, since according to them they violated the law and the Constitution.
The President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, has requested from the competent bodies that the organizers of the reception of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti in Tetovo and Çair, be punished, after the display of the "Autoctonus" flag.
"Organizers of public gatherings in Tetovo and Çair should be legally sanctioned for violating the legal provisions on the use of the national flag and anthem and the flags and symbols of the communities, completely ignoring the symbols of the state. In this regard, I ask the competent bodies to carry out the aforementioned procedures as soon as possible", says his reaction on Facebook.
According to him, the main point of a provocative nationalist iconography "that promotes grandiose chauvinist ideas represents the incitement of ethnic hatred and intolerance, which unequivocally attacks the basic principles and values of the Framework Treaty and the concept of Macedonia as a multi-ethnic state".
"The way of realizing the idea of renaming the road in the municipality of Çairi is contrary to the principle of democratic debate and respect for the historical heritage of all communities in the country", he said.
In this regard, Pendarovski has emphasized that he expects the competent inspection services to check whether the decision has been respected the principle of the double majority, "which should include the votes of non-majority communities in that municipality".
On Saturday, the office of the Macedonian Prime Minister, Dimitar Kovacevski, condemned the display of the "Autoctonus" flag, which was seen at the concert organized by the Municipality of Tetova in honor of Kurti's visit, saying that such a thing is against the laws of this country.
"The Prime Minister's Office assesses that the placement of flags that are not national flags is contrary to the protocols and laws for the organization of demonstrations in the presence of citizens of foreign countries", Kovacevski's cabinet said initially.
In Belgrade, Serbian President Aleksandër Vučić considered it a "scandal" because according to him Kurti promoted "Greater Albania".
"What happened in North Macedonia was a scandal of scandals. There, the idea of 'Greater Albania' was promoted, its symbols were emphasized, and Kurti was presented as prime minister of all Albanians and prime minister of Tetova, among other things," Vučič said in an interview for "TV Pink".
There have also been reactions from the opposition in Kosovo.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on Friday visited North Macedonia, namely the two municipalities with an Albanian majority - Çair and Tetovo.
Kurti did not meet with the leaders of the largest Albanian parties there, which are part of the Macedonian executive, specifically with Ali Ahmet - the leader of the Democratic Union for Integration - and Arben Taravari - the chairman of the Albanian Alliance.
