A series of missiles were fired from Iran at several Israeli cities just before midnight.
According to preliminary information, at least 20 missiles have been launched, most of which have been intercepted in the air by Israel's defense missile system.
An explosion has been heard on cameras broadcasting live from Israeli cities, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, but there is still no confirmation of live strikes.
Sakaq, Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has reacted with a message on social networks.
"In Haider's name, the battle begins. Ali returns to Hajbar with his Zulfiqar. Allahu Akbar".
This message and photo posted by him refer to the historic Battle of Hajbar, where Ali ibn Abi Talibi, a central figure in Shia Islam, captured a Jewish fortress using his Zulfiqar sword, symbolizing a key moment in the early Islamic expansion that shaped the principles of governance for non-Muslim subjects.
