Two Hungarian KFOR soldiers in Kosovo have lost a limb due to attacks by Serbian extremist groups in Zveçan, Kosovo, on May 29 of this year.
The Hungarian newspaper "HGV" writes that the soldiers' legs were amputated due to severe injuries. The KFOR mission in Kosovo confirmed that 30 soldiers were injured due to the escalation of the situation in the North of Kosovo, where 19 of them were Hungarian.
"Not only the legs of the officially announced, but also of two Hungarian KFOR soldiers injured in Kosovo, had to be amputated. In addition, one of them suggested that a delay could have led to this intervention. No one says anything about the investigation launched after the suspicion of a technical error, just as it is not known what happened to the mandatory fact-finding investigation in the country", says the article published by the Hungarian media.
The Hungarian ministry had announced that most of the soldiers have returned to their homes, but the condition of two soldiers is still serious and they are still being treated in hospital.
"For their recovery, the Hungarian Defense Forces and military doctors are doing everything to the maximum. Despite the high level of medical care, after a preliminary consultation with the patient, taking into account the results of the treatments provided since the injury, one of the cases required the amputation of a limb, which was carried out on Friday at the National Rehabilitation Institute Medical. The operation went well, the patient's condition is stable", the ministry said in the announcement.
