US President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for a third presidential term, despite the US Constitution prohibiting such a thing.

In an interview with NBC, Trump appeared confident that there are ways to overcome the limitations of the Constitution, while emphasizing that he was "not kidding" and that he had potential plans to achieve this goal.

Among the scenarios he mentioned was one where JD Vance, another political figure, could run for president, while Trump becomes vice president and then they swap positions, thus enabling a third term for him.

He also suggested that there could be other options that could be used to circumvent the constitutional limitation.

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which limits presidents to two terms, would be difficult to change, as it requires broad support from Congress and the states. The amendment was ratified in 1947 and took effect in 1951.

Trump, referring to the support he has from many people, said that many of them were asking him to remain in office for a third term.

"A lot of people are asking me to do it," he said, adding that he is currently focused on his current mandate and that he is not yet in the final phase of his term.

When asked if he wanted a third term, Trump replied, "I like to work," suggesting he wasn't joking and was serious about the opportunities he could use to change constitutional reality.
