US President Donald Trump announced that he has decided to cancel planned US attacks on Iran, on the condition that an agreement is reached immediately with Tehran.

Trump's statement comes hours after US media reports that Washington was considering the possibility of new and powerful air strikes on Iran.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, the US president wrote that he had agreed to stop the attack "for the future good of the world" and for the survival of a "successful and prosperous" Iran, if a deal were reached quickly.

"I have agreed, for the future good of the WORLD and, at the same time, for the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to call off the attack, provided we can quickly reach a DEAL," Trump wrote.

The US President declared that the United States is fully prepared and ready to act against the Islamic Republic of Iran, with levels of military power and firepower that, according to him, have not been seen since World War II.

"The United States is fully prepared and ready to act against the Islamic Republic of Iran, with levels of military power, force, and firepower not seen since World War II," he wrote.

However, Trump said Washington had received a request from Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to postpone any attacks, as he said the basic parameters of an agreement had been established.

According to the US president, the agreement would include "the immediate, full and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz," as well as ending the Iranian nuclear threat.

"Based on this request, I agreed, for the future good of the WORLD and for the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to call off the attack, provided we can quickly reach a DEAL," Trump continued.

He added that Israel supports this commitment and called on all parties to make maximum efforts to conclude the agreement.

"Do your best and complete the deal. Thank you for your attention to this issue!", the American president concluded.
