Even though the meetings with Belgrade, the government and the presidency of Kosovo have rejected them, this Thursday there was an informal meeting between the Serbian president Aleksandër Vucic and the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.

Osmani himself said that the President of France, Emanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the head of EU Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, were also present during the meeting. She emphasized that once again it was proven that Vucic is not interested in solutions or peace.

"At the end of the meeting with Macron and Scholz, they proposed to have an informal discussion with the president of Serbia, of course the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, was also present at the meeting. We had a joint meeting for about 10 minutes, where it was proven once again that Vucic is not interested in solutions or peace, but in fact is the main source of instability in our entire region", she said.

Osmani has confirmed that Kosovo is ready to organize new elections in the northern part of Kosovo.

Osmani said that this request was made by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"I told him that we are ready to consider this possibility", Osmani said.

"They asked Kosovo to find a way to hold new elections in the north that would give Serbian citizens the opportunity to participate and elect presidents with greater legitimacy," Osmani said.

Osmani said that the organization of new elections is allowed by the legal regulation of Kosovo and this, according to the president, can be done through a petition that can be initiated by the Serbian citizens of the northern municipalities.

"This means that Serbian citizens, that is, about 20 percent of them who are on the voting list, can sign a petition and through it can initiate the process of new elections. We are ready to follow the law", declared President Osmani.

Referring to the situation in the northern municipalities, Leposaviq, North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok and Zveçan, Osmani said that the situation can only be improved if Serbia stops the criminal gangs there.

"There may be an extension of the situation, but the extension starts in Belgrade, stopping these criminal gangs from causing violence in the north of Kosovo against innocent citizens. This is key and we have asked for this to happen", Osmani said.
