After the meeting with his Kosovar counterpart, Vjosa Osmani, the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, said that Germany and France have asked Kosovo and Serbia to hold new elections in the municipalities in the north of Kosovo.

"France and Germany asked the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia to organize new elections in the regions affected by the unrest as soon as possible," said Macron, who added that they were also asked to clarify the rules for the elections.

He said that in the coming weeks there will be a "clear decision" on the situation in the north of Kosovo and that this was agreed upon during the meetings with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and local leaders, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osman, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

Osmani confirmed that Macron and Scholz asked that Kosovo find ways to hold new elections in the north and that Serbs participate in them.

President Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic within the European Political Community meeting in the capital of Moldova.
