Ryan Haigh, a young British man described as extremely dangerous has been sentenced to prison for a series of criminal offenses against his girlfriend whom he attacked, controlled and threatened to kill her if she did not drop the charges .

Having been in a relationship with the girl for two years, he became extremely jealous if she talked to other men. He even decided who she could see and often lost his temper, punching, kicking and spitting in her face. He also threatened to kill himself if she tried to end the relationship.

But not only that, as the 23-year-old terrified the woman by boasting that he used to have a gun and that he would force his Albanian friends to shoot her and her family members, including her four-year-old granddaughter.

In court, the young girl said:

The last two years I have been devastated. Ryan has completely stripped me of who I am, I have to take medication to get through the day. He always said he had access to firearms and would shoot me. I really didn't think I would survive this relationship. I thought there was only one way out. I think he's going to kill me when he gets out. I'm very scared and I know what he's capable of."

The young man had attacked the woman in April, punching her in the face and ripping out her eyelashes. Then, 10 days later, and after an argument about a male friend she had on Facebook, he entered a house where she was staying to attack her as she slept, punching her in the face while verbally abusing her. He then took her iPhone and left. He later made several phone calls threatening to harm her and her family if she followed through with police action. In May he entered her home and assaulted her by punching her in the face. He left, but then called the woman after the police had arrived.

Held in custody, the young man admitted that he had made threats to kill, search, witness intimidation, two assaults and theft of a mobile phone. The judge considered the young man dangerous and therefore gave him an extended sentence of five years, consisting of four years of imprisonment. He was also sentenced to a 10-year ban to stay away from his daughter and her family.
