Montenegro's President, Jakov Milatovic, during his stay in Berlin, spoke in an interview with Deutsche Welle about the enlargement process and the problems facing the Western Balkans region.
He said Montenegro's goal is to be a reliable member of NATO and to join the EU and cultivate neighbourly relations.
Milatovic claimed that it would be positive if the EU finally moved towards enlargement, reminding that the last member was admitted more than ten years ago (Croatia in 2013) and that many positive steps have been made in the Balkans in the meantime.
Speaking about the reception of Balkan leaders at his inauguration as president, Milatovic said the event was a strong picture showing that "Montenegro has been a place of tolerance, peace and prosperity"
Furthermore, he was aware of the tension in the region, also mentioned the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, saying that he hopes that the two states will solve such a problem that hinders the path to the EU.
