"I cried from happiness", the confession of the mother of the Thai

The mother of a Thai hostage freed by Hamas on Friday told CNN she "wept with happiness" after learning the news. "I burst into tears when I saw him in two video clips.

I recognized her hair and the way she walked normally. I thought it was definitely her when I saw a lady getting on the bus in a red dress,” Boonyarin Srichan, Nutthawaree Munkan's mother, told CNN by phone on Saturday. Srichan lives in Khon Kaen province, one of the poorest in the country, with her 8-year-old granddaughter. She said she couldn't contain her happiness and ran around her house, jumping up and down with her granddaughter. "I cried from happiness," she said.

Srichan has not yet spoken to her daughter, but plans to travel to Bangkok to meet her. Earlier on Saturday, the Thai government confirmed her release. She was seen in a photograph along with nine other freed Thai hostages.
