A large number of students and citizens organized on Saturday to block three bridges over the Danube River in Novi Sad, exactly three months after 15 people were killed as a result of the collapse of a concrete shelter at the city's railway station, the second largest in Serbia.
Students have set off from the University of Novi Sad campus towards the Varadin, Zhezhele and Liberty bridges, which will be blocked from 3 p.m. Some were seen holding signs reading "Three months - three bridges."
The bridges will be blocked initially for three hours and then participants will gather at the Freedom Bridge, which they will block for 24 hours.
The students from Novi Sad were joined by students from Belgrade, who walked for two days from the capital.
The ongoing protests have resulted in the resignation of Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević earlier this week and a slew of concessions from the populist government, which is trying to calm the resistance. However, students have insisted they will continue the protest until their demands are met.
