French President Emmanuel Macron will convene European leaders for an emergency summit in Paris on Monday, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced at the Munich Security Conference.

"I am very glad that President Macron has called our leaders to Paris," Sikorski said, adding that he expects European leaders to discuss "in a very serious way" the challenges posed by US President Donald Trump.

"President Trump has a method of operation that the Russians call razvedka boyem - reconnaissance through battle: you push forward and see what happens, and then you change your position... And we have to respond," the Polish minister said.

The meeting will take place on Monday, according to two EU officials.

It is not clear whether the meeting would include all EU leaders, or just a smaller group of countries, and whether other European leaders such as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer would also be invited.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who was on the panel with Sikorski in Munich, did not confirm or deny the emergency summit.

Sikorski later said that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would travel on Monday at Macron's invitation to the meeting. "We must show our strength and unity," Sikorski said in a social media post.
