Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Vlora Çitaku has said that her party will withdraw the cases it has sent to the Constitutional Court tomorrow regarding the constitution of the Assembly and also the vote on the Kurti 4 Government, if the Vetëvendosje Movement publicly pledges to vote for the amendments to the Law on Specialized Chambers.
It should also be pledged that the Government will bear the defense costs and that the process be handled with due state responsibility.
"If LVV publicly pledges to vote for the Draft Law submitted today to amend and supplement the Law on Specialized Chambers, to fully cover defense expenses, and to handle this process with due state responsibility, we are ready to withdraw the cases from the Constitutional Court as early as tomorrow," Çitaku wrote on Facebook.
The Vetëvendosje Movement has said that they will initially await the decision of the Constitutional Court on the issue of the constitution of the Assembly, considering that this request, with which this process is contested, has not been withdrawn.
It is further stated that the PDK proposal will be carefully reviewed legally so that it does not have any possible consequences, especially when the verdict against the KLA four will be processed at the Appeals level.
Vetëvendosje MP, Adnan Rrustemi, reacted to Çitaku by telling him that not everything is a political calculation.
"Vlora Çitaku, it's not all political calculation. At least we should approach the issue of the Special Court without calculations and with a little more priority. What is this political behavior, once you say we don't have an Assembly, you take it to the Constitutional Court, boycott the completion of the presidency, then you address the Assembly that you consider unconstitutional and say we withdraw the requests to the Constitutional Court. Please be a little serious, more reflective about the fatal mistakes of the past from which lessons must be learned and have a coordinated state strategy to support the unjust process in The Hague", Rrustemi wrote on Facebook.
Çitaku reacted to Rrustemi. She said that "Vetëvendosje is making calculations."
"VV. You are making calculations. You are saying that you will not give an opinion on the law on the Special Court and on financial assistance without consulting the Constitutional Court. We are removing this condition from you. What do you think? Seriously. There is no greater or more important cause than this battle. Nothing is equivalent to it. This is not the time for tactics. It is time for action. Now. Immediately. Not for the PDK, but for history. For the KLA. For the liberators. Without hesitation. Without stopping. Until the end. Until freedom", Çitaku wrote on Facebook.
The Democratic Party aims to limit the mandate of the Special Court in The Hague and international monitoring of its work through legal amendments.
The Chairman of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, announced that they have proceeded in the Assembly with the initiative to amend the Law on Specialized Chambers and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
Hamza said that since the Special Chamber was created to address the allegations raised in Dick Marty's report, charges related to organ trafficking and crimes against humanity should be tried in The Hague, while cases related to war crimes should be transferred to Kosovo./Koha
