An unusual and shocking event was recorded on Saturday afternoon on one of Barcelona's main streets, where five people disguised as police officers kidnapped a man in the middle of traffic.

Witnesses and drivers confronted the scene, while the masked perpetrators presented themselves as police officers, causing witnesses to not immediately realize that it was a kidnapping.

Footage from the scene shows the five people, wearing reflective vests similar to those used by Spanish police and armed, as they exit a vehicle.

According to reports, their vehicle had earlier collided with another car, forcing it to stop. The five then forcibly removed a man, who had blood on his face, from the back seat and put him in their vehicle.

The Criminal Investigations Directorate (DIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra has taken over the investigation to identify the five people involved and to clarify their relationship with the kidnapped man.

The motive for the kidnapping has not yet been officially announced. However, investigators suspect that the incident may be related to a dispute between criminal groups.
