Survivors of the collision between two trains in Greece describe with anguish the moments of horror they experienced.
'My hair caught fire, mom. I don't know how I managed to get out. - said a passenger to her mother.
Another mother, who had still not been able to contact her daughter, was trying in vain to find information about her child's whereabouts.
A total of five buses passed by the New Railway Station to transport passengers from the accident site to Thessaloniki. Most of them went down the steps of the bus in a state of shock and fell into the arms of their relatives bursting into tears.
"It was a few seconds that seemed like a century," says one of the first passengers to arrive. "I thought I was going to die," said one young man. As he described it, he first felt a shock and then saw the front cars coming off the tracks.
"People started screaming inside, girls were crying. Fortunately, the back door opened and we all got out," described another passenger who was rescued. Some were not so lucky and as they said, had to break the window with the suitcase to get out or found a hole and managed to escape when the wagons were "turned around".
