TRAGIC ACCIDENT/ Freight train collides with passenger train, 32 dead and 85

At least 32 people have died and 85 others have been injured after two trains collided head-on in Northern Greece.

The serious incident happened on Tuesday evening, shortly before midnight in Tempi near the city of Larissa, where a passenger train collided with a freight train, writes CNN.

"The evacuation process is continuing and is being carried out in very difficult conditions due to the severity of the collision between the two trains," said a spokesman for the Greek fire service.

Survivors said several passengers were thrown from the windows of the train carriages due to the impact.

The passenger train was traveling from Athens to Thessaloniki, which is Greece's second largest city.
