French President Emmanuel Macron is preparing France for a new era of nuclear weapons dominance, at a time when the war between Iran, the US and Israel is escalating and increasing global uncertainty.
Macron has warned that the world is entering a “nuclear age,” stressing the need for France to strengthen its military capabilities, especially its nuclear arsenal. He has announced an increase in the number of nuclear warheads and a new “advanced deterrence” strategy that includes closer cooperation with European countries.
“What I want more than anything else, as you will have understood, is for Europeans to regain control of their destiny,” Macron said. In his speech, he added: “We are in a different strategic universe. The next half century will be an era of nuclear weapons.”
This move comes against the backdrop of the war in the Middle East, which began after joint US and Israeli attacks on Iran and has escalated tensions in the region, including attacks on infrastructure and threats to global energy routes.
Meanwhile, Macron has emphasized that France is increasing its military presence in the region for defensive purposes, aiming to protect its citizens and allies in the Persian Gulf, as well as guarantee the security of strategic sea lanes.
He has also called for a reduction in tensions and the restoration of stability, demanding that Iran stop attacks in the region and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The new French policy is seen as a signal that Europe is preparing for a more dangerous geopolitical reality, where nuclear weapons are once again taking a central role in security strategies.
