In addition to the director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) Aleksandar Vulin, who was sanctioned recently, there are other Serbian citizens on the blacklist of the United States of America.
Serbian media reports that some of them are known to the general public, such as arms dealer Slobodan Tešić and businessman Milan Radojić, while others are almost unknown.
Tešić is the biggest arms dealer in Serbia, and was even wanted by Interpol for a while. While Milan Radoicic is suspected of being connected to the murder of the Serbian politician in Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic. It is also sanctioned by Great Britain.
The director of the Serbian Agency Vulin has recently been defended by the Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who has stated that not a single proof has come from the US for their claims and that the sanctions are politically motivated.
Asked how this could affect Serbian-American relations, Dacic said that Serbia "has good cooperation with the US in the fight against all forms of organized crime."
"This is one of the most important pillars of our cooperation. And precisely for this "it is surprising" that the American state authorities take decisions on sanctions against a high official of Serbia, with suspicions of "alleged" connection with organized crime. But here we are only talking about politics, and this is the state policy of Serbia, which is implemented by all those who are in charge of the institutions", Dacic said.
He also claimed that with this action "they want to create an artificial balance" between Kosovo and Serbia.
