The Democratic League of Kosovo has taken a step back in political negotiations to resolve the institutional impasse in Kosovo. The leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, has declared that his party is withdrawing from all demands for an agreement, leaving the responsibility for resolving the situation to the Vetëvendosje Movement.
"Let Vetëvendosje keep it all," Abdixhiku is reported to have declared, signaling a new stance by the LDK in the face of political developments.
Despite withdrawing from demands for a political agreement, Abdixhiku has made it clear that the LDK is ready to participate in voting for a consensual candidate for President of Kosovo.
After a three-hour meeting of the Parliamentary Group, the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, announced that his party has given up its demands for a President and a possible co-government with Albin Kurti's Vetëvendosje.
"We have given up all positions, whether it be the Speaker of the Parliament, the three ministries offered in the meeting with Kurti, or even the position of President. We support the creation of institutions and the election of a consensual president to unblock the crisis," Abdixhiku said.
Abdixhiku said that LDK will remain in opposition and will exercise this responsibility with dignity.
He said that the LDK is ready to talk about electing a president who protects the interests of the Republic.
"Since LVV is assessing that it does not need a partner, it will not even have one as a decoration. We will remain in opposition and will exercise this responsibility with dignity. Despite this stance, we will not turn political disappointment into a blockade. We are ready to talk about electing a president who protects the interests of the Republic," said Abdixhiku.
