The NATO mission in Kosovo has reacted after the purchase of Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Turkey. Through a statement to the media, KFOR says that the mission has the primary authority for the airspace over Kosovo.
KFOR says it expects the institutions in Kosovo to ensure coordination and respect existing procedures.
"The upper airspace of Kosovo can only be used to fly over Kosovo from one country to another through commercial flights; the lower airspace can be used for specific needs, case by case and according to the previous authorization by the KFOR commander.
We expect the institutions in Kosovo to ensure coordination and respect the existing procedures", says the KFOR statement.
Yesterday, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti confirmed the purchase of Bayraktar TB-2 drones from Turkey, saying they will be used to increase security in Kosovo.
