Aleksandar Vucic

The rally organized by Aleksandër Vucic for tomorrow in Belgrade seems to be vital for him. Not only from Serbia, but Serbian citizens are organizing themselves under allurement and pressure from the entire Balkans to be in Belgrade on May 26 at the "Serbia of Hope" gathering.

Organized free transportation, pressure for participation, lists of employees who must participate in the rally, are some of the methods that have appeared not only within Serbia but also in other countries to organize as large a participation as possible.

The professors of a school in North Mitrovica, as Radio Free Europe was told, are on the list of those who "must" be in Belgrade.

In support of Vucic, several associations from North Macedonia and the Serbian entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska, are organizing free buses.

After two mass murders in Serbia at the beginning of May, the opposition has organized two protests in Belgrade with the slogan "Serbia against violence". Tens of thousands of people have participated in them.

They have demanded the closure of national television channels, such as Pink and Happy, which are alleged to incite violence, then the resignation of the Minister of Police, Bratislav Gashiq, and the head of the Security Agency, Aleksandar Vulin, the immediate ban of the programs of known as "reality show" and the replacement of members of the council REM - Regulatory body for electronic media.

The protests in Belgrade, according to Vucic, are attempts to misuse grief and "to destroy everything Serbian".

He has decided to organize a rally, which he has announced as the biggest in Serbian history, and in which he will also speak.

Some Serbs from Kosovo will walk for nine days from the municipality of Leposavic - in the north of Kosovo - to Belgrade, to support the president of Serbia in what they say is his efforts to save Serbia.

According to information, the quota of people who must go to the rally of the president of Serbia on Friday, must be filled by each of the four municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo.

In North Macedonia, six free buses have been reserved, which will leave for Belgrade, early on Friday morning. About 300 Macedonian citizens from Skopje, Kumanovo, Tetova and Negotin will go to support the president of Serbia.

The four buses that will be filled by the non-governmental organization of Skopje "Peace, harmony and stability", and that will leave for Serbia, are not financed by the Government of Serbia. This trip is being organized by the association with money from membership and donations from some individuals, Radio Free Europe was told.

The chairman of the association, Dimitrije Nedic, said that "he will support a man who protects Macedonian and Serbian interests".

Republika Srpska's government and opposition have agreed on one thing - to support the Serbian leader when he addresses the nation from Belgrade on Friday.

Among those who will travel to the Serbian capital is the president of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the leader of the National Front of the opposition, Jellena Trivic.

So far, about ten buses from Republika Srpska have announced that they will leave for Belgrade on Friday morning. They are financed by the United Serbian Party and for this trip they will share, as they said, funds from their budget.

Opposition parties in Serbia accuse Vučić's party of pressure and threats against employees of state institutions to participate in the rally.

"The quota for Kragujevac is about 9 thousand, as far as I know. It is clear that the SNS wants to hold a big gathering in a way that is not acceptable," said Stevanovic.

According to some opposition parties, what the SNS does to mobilize citizens under pressure is a criminal offense, for which prison sentences are also provided.

Meanwhile, a group of civil society organizations has called on the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, on May 23, to cancel the rally in the interest of reducing tensions and preventing further divisions in society.

According to Vučić, Friday's rally "is not for hatred, protest and anger", but for "ordinary, good people of Serbia and for those who want to support those who have lost their loved ones".
