Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken for the first time since the tragic attack in Moscow, calling last night's shooting a "bloody and barbaric terrorist attack".

He emphasized that the suspects "tried to escape towards Ukraine", while announcing a day of mourning for tomorrow and expressing his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack.

"All those who planned and executed this operation will be punished," he said.

"Terrorists, murderers can expect only one thing, only punishment," Putin stressed. "All the attackers have been found and arrested. Our enemies will not divide us," he added.
