The agreement between Twitter and Elon Musk for the sale of the social network has been reached and will be made public after the closure of the Wall Street stock exchange. The news is given by the Wall Street Journal, citing sources close to the treaty. The two sides worked all night to finalize the $ 44 billion deal.

Musk, who made the shock offer less than two weeks ago, has claimed he is the right person to "unlock the extraordinary potential" of the social media firm.

He called for a range of changes, from easing content restrictions to eliminating fake accounts. The firm initially rejected Musk's offer, but will now ask shareholders to vote to approve the deal.

Musk is the richest man in the world, according to Forbes magazine, with a net worth of $ 273.6 billion, largely due to his stake in electric vehicle maker Tesla. He also runs the aerospace firm SpaceX.
