Russia refuses UN mediation: Azov Battalion to hand over weapons

Russia says it is calling every half hour on Ukrainian soldiers trapped at the steel plant in Mariupol to surrender and exploit humanitarian routes to leave.

"The Ukrainian side again tries to justify the use of civilians as a human shield. Russian command, starting on 19 April, has regularly opened humanitarian corridors for "Azov" militants. According to Defence Ministry information, today, from 2 p.m. Russian units and Donetsk formations have declared the regime of silence and ensure the exit of citizens in every direction chosen by them

Russia declares that the request for surrender is transmitted to Ukrainian soldiers of the Azov battle through radios at time intervals every 30 minutes and through operating communication channels through Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, to all its statements "for the lack of an agreement and security guarantees" are unsustainable.

For this reason, Moscow declares that there is no need for any UN intervention.
