"Britain is turning into an Islamic Republic" - Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sharply criticized the United Kingdom, describing it as an Islamic Republic during an interview on the Army Radio podcast.

Speaking about the Churchill family, Netanyahu mentioned Randolph Churchill and his son, Winston Spencer Churchill, who had worked as journalists and reported on the 1967 Six-Day War.

According to Netanyahu, both had covered the conflict in a way that was very positive for Israel. His statement comes at a time of heightened tensions between Israel and the UK over the war in Gaza and the British stance towards Israel.

"Try to find something like that now in Britain that you could call the 'Islamic Republic of Britain,'" he said, laughing.

He then answered 'yes' when the journalist asked him if 'all of Europe is like this', apparently referring to Muslim communities in European countries and the increasingly critical stance of many European governments towards Israel in recent years.

"The first nuclear Islamic republic will be the Islamic Republic of Britain. We are making sure there is not another one in Iran," Netanyahu added jokingly.
