Brazan Majeed is one of the most wanted smugglers by the police in several countries including the United Kingdom.
The immigrant smuggler, known as "Akrepi", has transported immigrants from different countries illegally, also risking their lives.
One way to transport these people is through the raft, it crosses the English Channel, where in many cases some crossings end with the death of some of these immigrants.
During transport, people are not even equipped with life jackets. More than 70 people have died crossing by boat since 2018, and since last month five people have been killed off the French coast, including a seven-year-old girl.
Migrants pay about 6,000 pounds per person, for a boat crossing, and 30,000 people confirm this since 2023, all the profit of the smuggler is clear.
Asked how many people he transports, he answered saying that he never counted them, but maybe 10 thousand people.
An immigrant girl, who had made this "journey" confessed that she was in danger during the crossing of the English Channel. He also added that the raft was not strong enough and 19 people were without life jackets.
"Akrepi" has smuggled thousands of people and is still on the run from the police.
A senior investigator at the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency, Martin Clarke, has revealed that "The Scorpion" has been identified by police as an Iraqi Kurdish man called Brazan Majeed.
Akrepi went to England for the first time at the age of 20, where he was smuggled in the back of a truck.
Despite the fact that he was refused a residence permit, he continued to stay in England illegally for years, some of these years he spent in prison for criminal offenses such as drugs and weapons.
In 2015 he returned to Iraq where he immediately "inherited" the smuggling business of his older brother who was serving a prison sentence in Belgium.
Between 2016 and 2021 the gang controlled most of the people smuggling trade between Europe and the UK.
An international, two-year police operation resulted in convictions for 26 gang members in the UK, Belgium and France. But Akrepi has escaped the police and is now on the run.
