The National Newspaper of Kosovo has conducted an investigation into the oil businessman in Albania, Shefqet Kastrati. Nacionale writes that Albania, which does not have even 3 million inhabitants, imports 600 thousand tons of oil, which is consumed by about 600 thousand cars owned by Albanians. In addition to residents, about 3-4 million tourists come and go in Albania every year, who also use oil. However, in terms of spending, Albania consumes less oil than Kosovo, which has only 1.7 million inhabitants.

The biggest winner from the use of oil, undoubtedly, is Shefqet Kastrati, the businessman who is among the main oil barons in Albania. But, its profit is not only because of the quantity sold in the Albanian market. Analysts from Albania suspect that oil barons in Albania smuggle oil illegally. From such a thing, the budget of Albania is mostly damaged, since a liter of oil, not customs cleared, enters the tank of the citizen's car unregistered.

Journalist Lutfi Dervishi said that thousands of tons of oil enters this form, for which then there are doubts about the quality. Although millions of euros in oil taxes are not paid into the Albanian state budget, the money still ends up in the wallets of oil barons like Shefqet Kastrati.

Some time ago, due to dissatisfaction with the increase in prices, there were numerous protests in Tirana, for which the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, had said that they are serving Russia.
