Albania 'despised' at NATO summit, no FA chief of staff

At the end of June, the next traditional summit of LEADERS of NATO member states meets, where official protocols envision the participation of at least three representatives from each Alliance member state.

The summit is held this time on 29 and 30 June.

In the case of presidential republics, the presidents, defence ministers and chiefs of staff of the Armed Forces participate at this summit.

When it comes to parliamentary republics, representation is at the level of Prime Ministers, Defence Ministers and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

This time the Albanian delegation will go to The Oblast as Prime Minister, Niko Peleshin as Minister of Defence, but without a Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Bajram Begaj, elected President on 4 June, gave up all military functions, both from the general rank and position as Chief of the General Staff of the Army. Although his appointment as President seemed to be thought fulsome, Begaj's successor to the head of the Armed Forces has not been elected for three weeks.

Today Albania has a general command of the FA, which is in office (Ilir Meta), an elected FA commander-in-chief (Bajram Begaj), but does not have an FA Chief of General Staff, who is the brains of the army's operational decision-making in peacetime.

This is a vacuum that, if not antilegal and unconstitutional, is not serious at a time that the Alliance is practically at war with Russia.
