Wudy salami, for which the National Food Authority issued an alert this Wednesday, are imported into Albania by the company Frigo Food, owned by businessman Sokol Meqemeja.
The company is registered in the National Business Center with NIPT number J91501001C and 100 percent ownership of the shares by Sokol Meqemeja.
For the past year, the company reports a net profit of 13 million ALL. However, there have been constant accusations of tax evasion against her, as she is suspected of putting expired meat and meat by-products on the market for years, or on the verge of expiry.
This is only one side. The other side is the introduction of products with high bacterial content, or even carcinogenic content.
Despite these accusations and suspicions, Sokol Meqemeja, known for his close ties with the former Minister of Finance of the Democratic Party, Ridvan Bode, has continued his activity undisturbed.
Recently, he has also approached the government of Rama, first with the construction of hydropower plants and then as a buyer of a public property in Tirana with a ridiculous value last year.
The property has been purchased by the construction company "Building Construction", under license: L11401034P. On paper, the owner of this company is Ilir Merja and the administrator is Imer Memeta. But behind this company hides Sokol Meqemeja.
On August 24, 2014, Sokol Meqemeja donated the shares of the company to Ilir Merjas, controlling the company through the latter, as Meqemeja was accused in several cases of being part of the "Fast Food" meat mafia, HEC concessions and suspicious activities in some silos along the Hotolisht-Librazhd road.
