Gledis Nano's email messages released by Iranian hackers revealed the plan to assassinate Albin Kurti and Lulzim Basha.
They discovered how wanted names for multiple murders were circulating in the middle of Tirana in luxury vehicles, as well as suspicions of a possible terrorist attack on the Albanian Embassy in Athens.
But, among other things, the e-mails also reveal the close cooperation that Gladis Nano had with the US Embassy in Tirana. The former director of the State Police and former head of anti-terror has requested the logistical and human assistance of the US Embassy on several occasions.
The culmination of the cooperation, as proven in the leaked documents, is the one during the efforts to get the Albanian citizens out of Syria, which unfortunately diplomacy had forgotten.
The cooperation has also continued in the case of the alert from the Greek side about the possibility of a terrorist act at the Albanian Embassy in Athens. The Greek authorities suspected that four Albanian-Greek citizens were planning it. Even in this case, Gladis Nano has requested the assistance of the USA.
Nano has maintained this cooperation even during the short period that he led the State Police, so much so that it is unofficially said that this was the real reason for his dismissal.
The US Embassy, as is rare for Police leaders, expressed the highest praise for Gladys Nano after the latter's dismissal.
"We express our appreciation to Gladys Nano, who was a strong partner of America as director of the Albanian State Police and before that, as director of the Office against Terrorism", the Embassy's response said.
