Note : Until a decade ago, the Davos Economic Forum was the most important event that started the year. It gathered the main leaders of the West and the whole world and was the place where the most influential decisions in the lives of citizens were conceived, which were then reflected in the world's largest media.
However, today the forum was devalued in a mediocre event, where the most sensational news it produced was Prime Minister Edi Rama's statement with the expression 'Karma is a Bitch'.
With these words, Rama addressed the President of the European Parliament, mocking in her face the event of the day in Brussels, where MEPs, former MEPs and other EU officials have been investigated for corruption.
Revenge is a dish that is best served cold, and Edi Rama's vindictive language towards the head of the EP was like that. His statement was received and circulated in the international media and then those of Tirana.
However, in Tirana, the media dealt with the text, but ignored the context. The text of Rama's statement was; whatever you sow you will reap. After saying these words to the head of the EP, Rama referred to the mockery of Brussels, where he first approved the format of the reform in justice, which started from the top down and then rejected the negotiations for Albania, citing the lack of a functional constitutional court.
Rama was partially right. But the context of his entire statement does not. Telling the European Parliament that 'what you sow you will reap' and referring to the recent accusations in Brussels of corruption, Rama indirectly accused the European Union of promoting corruption in Albania.
Put more bluntly, Rama distributed the responsibility and blame for the levels of corruption in Albania, which go up to his former deputy prime ministers, with the European Union.
The EU has its own problems and corruption scandals have erupted in the past. Even the ambassador of Brussels in Albania during the drafting of the justice reform, Romana Vlahutin, was among the accused.
But how naive does someone have to be to believe that why SPAK does not investigate Arben Ahmatej today regarding the payments he received from Klodian Zoto is the fault of the European Union?
