"Move forward with the Gaza plan" - Trump-Netanyahu phone call after

US President Donald Trump has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue implementing his peace plan for the Gaza Strip, during a phone conversation the two leaders held on Thursday.

The news was reported by Axios, which cited two sources familiar with the conversation. According to them, Trump wants the plan to move forward regardless of how the new government in Israel is formed after the elections.

The plan envisages the disarmament of Hamas, the demilitarization of Gaza, and the transfer of administration of the territory into the hands of a new Palestinian government with independent experts and technicians.

The US administration had avoided pressure to implement the plan during the election campaign in Israel, so as not to turn the issue into another political clash.

The 20-point plan and the disarmament of Hamas

Israel and Hamas had agreed to the 20-point plan proposed by Trump, which led to the end of the war in Gaza and the release of hostages.

As part of the agreement, the US President's Peace Council was also established, which is working on the next phase of the process.

Among the main measures are the creation of a technocratic Palestinian government, the deployment of an international stabilization force, and the removal of armed organizations from political and security control in the territory.

However, the Israeli government has shown reservations about implementing these measures, mainly due to internal political developments and security concerns.

Netanyahu doubts Hamas will hand over weapons

During his visit to Israel in August, Jared Kushner, Trump's advisor and son-in-law, informed Netanyahu that Hamas had agreed for the first time to hand over its weapons.

Kushner had asked the Israeli prime minister to take the necessary steps to verify whether this commitment could be implemented in practice.

But Netanyahu remains skeptical about Hamas's willingness to disarm. He claims that the organization continues to arm itself and rebuild its military capabilities in Gaza.

According to a senior US official, the disarmament will take place gradually and each phase will be carefully verified. He also stressed that the reconstruction of Gaza will not begin without first making concrete progress in the process of disarming Hamas.

The phone call between Trump and Netanyahu was also attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

According to sources cited by Axios, the conversation took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, with the focus on the next steps for Gaza. The initiative for the call was taken by Netanyahu himself, while the war with Iran was also included in the discussion.
