Construction of HEC Skavica, KESH requires external financial consultancy

The Albanian Electric Power Corporation is looking for external financial consultancy for the Skavica hydropower plant project. Through a procedure announced on the official website, KESH informs that the value of the contract will be 450,000 euros, while specifying the tasks that the consultant will have in terms of this project, which he considers a high priority for Albania.

Among other things, the consulate will have to assess the financial capabilities of KESH to obtain a loan to finance this project. Also, it will have to carry out a review of the current financial model for this energy work.

In this context, the Financial Advisor must develop a financial model that evaluates the electricity tariffs for the construction and operation of the Skavica HPP in different scenarios. Meanwhile, all the required financial evaluation must be submitted to KESH within 6 months from the signing of the contract. According to KESH, the Skavicë hydropower plant aims to complete and maximize the production of electricity in the Cascade of Drin.

Meanwhile, the feasibility study carried out a few years ago, brought to the table 2 variants, which envisage different sizes of the dam. Alternative A envisages a HPP with an installed capacity of 120 MW and a cost of 308 million euros.

Meanwhile, as far as alternative B is concerned, the construction of a HPP with an installed capacity of 210 MW and a cost of 510 million euros is foreseen. Meanwhile, in 2021, the Albanian Electric Corporation signed the first phase contract with the Bechtel International company, which consisted of conducting studies for the design of the final project of this hydropower project.
