Korean cars are a historical record in Albania, due to the cheap price

The year 2023 turns out to have been a boom year for the import of cars from Korea, significantly reversing the trend of recent years.

SCAN has analyzed the data of INSTAT, where it results that in the years 2021-2022 the monthly import of means of transport from South Korea varied from 100 to a maximum of 400 million ALL. The annual total of imports reached 3 billion ALL.

Meanwhile, in 2023, their monthly import has reached the level of 500 to 1.1 billion lek and this year the total figure exceeds the level of 6 billion lek.

The historical record of purchases of transport vehicles from South Korea this year is held by the months of September and October, where vehicles worth 1 and 1.1 billion ALL were imported, respectively.

Despite the strong increase in imports of tools from South Korea, it is still European countries that lead the list of countries from which Albania imports tools.

Italy is in first place, followed by Germany in second place and Korea in third place, which has already left behind Switzerland and the United States of America.

The main reason why Asian cars, especially those from Korea, are increasingly finding a place in the Albanian market is their cheap price.
