Freedom Party MP, Erisa Xhixho, has made strong accusations against the government and the Special Prosecution Office regarding the investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

Invited to the studio of the show "Breaking" with Fiori Dardhen, Xhixho focused on the fact that, despite the worsening of Balluk's position in the investigation, according to her, no new request for her arrest or other security measure has yet been made against her.

"He is completely free even though 13 charges have been filed," declared Xhixho, describing any new request that SPAK may make as overdue.

According to the Freedom Party MP, the Balluk case shows a different standard than the one followed towards Ilir Meta.

"You have a double standard," Xhixho said in the studio, arguing that the argument that Meta could destroy evidence or influence witnesses was used against her, while, according to her, the same standard is not being applied to Balluk.

Xixho claimed that the former deputy prime minister continues to have influence in state structures and that this, according to her, raises questions about the way the investigation is being conducted.

"She is the one who heads many of the ministries, not just the Ministry of Infrastructure," the MP declared, referring to her claim about Balluk's influence in the administration.

But Xhixho's accusations went further. She directly raised the question of why Prime Minister Edi Rama, according to her, is defending Balluk.

"The question arises why Edi Rama is defending Belinda Balluku?", said Xhixho in the studio.

The MP links this allegation to the investigations into some of the infrastructure affairs and the European integration process. According to her, the political protection of Balluk has also affected relations with the integration process.

"Edi Rama is in all the affairs of this country," declared Xhixho, linking her claim to the political responsibility of the prime minister.

Xhixho specifically mentioned the Llogara Tunnel and the Great Ring Road affair, claiming that, while a harsh approach has been taken against opposition figures, a different standard is being used against government officials.

"Why are you defending him in this situation where we have the European integration process?" she asked, adding that according to her, the judiciary should also investigate the prime minister's responsibility for the issues raised.

In her statement, Xhixho also claimed that Balluku, despite the investigation, continues to have the ability to influence the administration and important state structures. She considered this an additional reason why, in her opinion, SPAK should have acted sooner on a new security measure.
