The case of the former director of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni, is expected to be returned for discussion in the National Security Council, after SHISH completes an in-depth audit to verify whether the situation has had consequences on the functioning of the institution.

The news was announced by the chairman of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Bledi Çuçi, during a meeting where recent developments in security institutions and the security measures against Hysen were discussed.

Çuçi said that the President had convened the National Security Council on Monday, where SHISH had presented preliminary information regarding the situation. According to him, at that meeting, a request was made to conduct an in-depth audit as soon as possible.

"Regarding this issue, the President convened the National Security Council on Monday and there was a preliminary information from SHISH. The Council was also tasked with conducting an in-depth audit as soon as possible regarding any possible consequences, if any, for the functioning of SHISH and I believe that very soon we will have a meeting of the National Security Council, where it will be discussed even more extensively after this audit is conducted," Çuçi declared.

The head of the Security Committee explained that the audit will be carried out by SHISH itself, in function of the information that will be forwarded to the National Security Council. Meanwhile, he emphasized that the Parliament also has its own control mechanisms over the security institutions. Çuçi requested that the Prosecutor's Office be allowed to initially complete the investigations into the role of the former director of SHISH, before political institutions take other steps.

"Our commission also has a role in this regard, but all state links must be followed and first the Prosecution must be allowed to investigate to the end the involvement of the former director of SHISH in matters related to security or not. Once we have a calm situation, we also have our instruments to call to report the security institutions on this issue. Let the Prosecution do its job calmly and pass these information filters that come from such an important institution as SHISH and then we are there too. Over time, all the responsibilities of everyone will be clarified, whether criminal or administrative," he said.

Çuçi also spoke about an opposition initiative regarding this issue. According to him, a request for a motion has been submitted by the Democratic Party, which is expected to be reviewed at the Speakers' meeting.

"As for political initiatives, I have been informed that the DP has made a request for a motion on this issue and I think this issue will be discussed at the meeting of the Speakers, which to my knowledge has been postponed until tomorrow," concluded Çuçi.
