The court of Elbasan has called the arrest of three foreign citizens, one Ukrainian and two Russians suspected of espionage legal, and imposed a prison sentence on them.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Russian Mikhail Zorin is known to be a student in the Chemistry department in the Czech Republic. He has stated that he was a participant in several protests in Moscow, and he left there after the Russian secret services were following him.
It is suspected that Zorin was then contacted by the Russian secret services, who, under pressure or by agreement, asked him to carry out this spying mission for photographing military bases and objects of particular importance.
Zorin's mother is part of the Russian army while his father is a lawyer by profession. He came to our country by bicycle from the Czech Republic.
In addition to the Gramsh Military Plant, Zorin also photographed the Moglica Hydropower Plant, the dam of this HPP, and the Bovilla reservoir.
While the other two citizens, Ukrainian Fedir Aplatov and Russian citizen Svetlana Timofoeva, have insisted that they are tourist bloggers.
The three entered our country from different customs points and it is learned that before they met in Tirana, they explored the country separately. Here, Mikhail Zorin stayed in a camping tent while exploring different areas.
They seized cameras, drones, night vision equipment, a cartridge, and the nerve agent used to attack the two Russian soldiers.
