The Principality of Mykonos in Greece has reacted after the murder of 20-year-old Portuguese Luis Miguel Varela Mendes by 29-year-old Albanian Sokrat Vata in the 'Principotes' of Ksamil.

Through a response, 'Principote' Mykonos has clarified that they have no business relationship or any other type of relationship with the beach bar in Albania where the incident occurred.

As stated in a statement, the complex in Ksamil is illegally using its brand name 'Principote', and legal proceedings have already been initiated against it.

"In light of a tragic incident that recently occurred in the Albanian town of Ksamil and in a shop that is illegally using our business name, we clarify, to avoid confusion, that PRINCIPOTE MYKONOS has absolutely no business or other relationship with the above Albanian establishment, which is illegally using our name and against which we have taken legal action, in order to stop it from engaging in unfair competition to our detriment, illegally 'harvesting' the international reputation that PRINCIPOTE MYKONOS has earned over many years of providing the highest level of services," reads the response from 'Principote' Mykonos.

The reaction comes as Albanian authorities continue their investigations into the deadly brawl in Ksamil, in which the 20-year-old Portuguese man lost his life.
